Biography

I was born in Anaheim California, and currently reside in Oklahoma City, OK. I have been making music my entire life. I never got any formal lessons from anyone, I just taught myself the majority of what I know. Sometimes, someone would come around and show me a thing or two. But for the most part, I picked up on everything myself. I have taught myself to play piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drums. I've also taught myself how to engineer, produce, mix, and sing. It's a lot for one person to undertake on their own. In addition, I taught myself how to use computers and do things like build websites and using highly complicated recording software.

In the 90's, my recordings were mostly done on cassettes and reel-to-reels. Between 2002 and 2009, almost all of my recordings were multi-tracked using the software "Adobe Audition". As of 2009, I'm currently runing Logic Pro on an iMac. All the things I use in the studio can be found on the Funky Monkey page.

My influences are quite varied, as I listen to all different types of music. But I have particularly been influenced by: The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Flaming Lips, Todd Rundgren, Brian Wilson, Billy Joel, Nine Inch Nails, and Michael Jackson. I am known for having a very large music collection, including many vinyl records. (I LOVE vinyl!)

Over the years, I have managed to build myself a fairly nice recording studio, which I call "The Funky Monkey". "The Funky Monkey" is really a set of tools for my own personal use. However, sometimes other artists may want to come around and record in my studio. I have taken odd jobs helping other musicians with their recordings through the years.
